Exceeds the Standard
  • Craftsmanship and presentation of the drawings as a whole is high quality; very little or no smudges, wrinkles or bent edges.
  • Attention to detail is fabulous.
  • Forms are VERY believable/convincing.
  • Your work CLEARLY demonstrates great effort in mastering different media. (This will be determined through both the drawings themselves and observations of work in class)
  • All work has been carefully/thoughtfully signed.
  • Drawings have been spray fixed if charcoal was used.
  • Work is handed in on time.

Meets the Standard
  • Craftsmanship and presentation of the drawings as a whole is good quality; few smudges, wrinkles or bent edges.
  • Attention has been given to detail.
  • Forms are believable.
  • Your work demonstrates good effort in handling and exploring different media. (This will be determined through both the drawings themselves and observations of work in class).
  • All work has been signed.
  • Drawings have been spray fixed if charcoal was used.
  • Work is handed in on time.

Partially Meets the Standard
  • Craftsmanship and presentation of the drawings as a whole are of inconsistent quality; smudges, some wrinkles and/or bent edges are apparent.
  • Little attention has been given to detail.
  • Volume of shapes is not clear; objects appear flat.
  • All work is either not signed and/or not thoughtfully placed.
  • Drawings have not been spray fixed.

  • These drawings are not complete and/or do not meet the criteria of the project.

Creative Problem-Solving

Exceeds the Standard
  • Great attention has been paid to finding very dynamic compositions that make excellent use of your entire piece of paper; negative space is as interesting as the positive.
  • You have solid evidence that you explored more than one possibility before determining a final composition.
  • Outstanding use of background; equal importance has been given to the background as well as the subject
  • There is excellent use of value (light and shadow) to show the volume of your object.

Meets the Standard
  • Attention has been paid to finding good compositions that make good use of your page.
  • There is some evidence of planning composition.
  • Good use of background; consideration of background and subject is evident.
  • There is good use of value that shows the volume of your objects.

Partially Meets the Standard
  • The compositions are less than dynamic.
  • There is little or no evidence of planning composition.
  • Background is not as developed as subject.
  • There is unclear use of value to show the volume of your object.

Does Not Meet the Standard
  • This project does not meet the criteria of the project. It is unacceptable and/or incomplete.
